So I'm cruising around looking for some portfolio sites that have interesting layouts, trying to get some ideas for my own site. I found an awesome page "101 Awesome Portfolio Sites" and there are some pretty sweet designs. Here are some of the ones that I like and might take some ideas from.
(I like the torn off page pieces on the sidebar in this one)
(I like the pages that are fanned across the top of this page, he doesn't use them as a menu, but I think it would be interesting to put a rollover on pages like this and have them be the links to the rest of the site)
This guy had an awesome layout as it shows on the 101 Awesome Portfolio Sites page, but he changed it. The new layout is still pretty sweet, but the old one had these awesome hanging tags as menu links. It's the 11th layout down on
this page.
I like the idea in this one of using images from projects as the menu bar.
As the thumbnail image, this layout looked like it was made to look like a newspaper page. Although it doesn't really look like a newspaper page at all when its at full size, it gave me the idea of doing a layout in newspaper style since journalism is my career goal.
This site gave me the idea of using some type of textured images as a background. Maybe a photo of the bricks outside my house, grass?, wood? I'll think about it.
