Unemployed
So life has been pretty rough since graduating college (only three months ago). The job market is in pretty bad shape and I'm finding it absolutely impossible to find a job. Reality is harsh and discovering that life doesn't just hand you an awesome job immediately after graduation is not a fun thing to face.
I've tried CareerBuilder, Monster, Moravian's Career Hound, CollegeRecruiter, every website for every publishing company in New York, the classifieds. Basically, I've tried everything. And found nothing.
At least nothing I consider to be "good". I know that I can probably get a job as a waitress or cashier, administrative assistant or data processing (cube monkey), but I really just want to get into the publishing industry and get my career started.
Anyway, since I have nothing else to do, I'm going to be posting some of my writing here. I need to get back into writing on a regular basis. I've been reading a lot, but I've definitely been slacking on creating my own work.

Business Card Search
I'm working on developing a cool business card design for a friend of mine. I've been checking out some designs on the web and here are some of the ones that are inspiring me:

The portfolio project was definitely the most challenge website we worked on this semester, but it was also a fun thing to work on. I am surprised and pleased with the turn out of my website. In the beginning of the semester, I was having a very hard time designing website layouts that were simple and attractive and I feel like I accomplished that in my portfolio site. I’m very excited that I got the clickable image idea to actually work, but coding it was definitely a challenge.
I had a hard time coding the small clickable image that follows the visitor around the site (which was obviously going to be difficult since I don’t know JavaScript at all!) so it was necessary for me to get some help with that. Otherwise, I feel like I used all of the skills we learned in class throughout the semester to complete the rest of the site.
In the future I would like to spruce up the “contact” page, possibly by adding an image or a drawing, since I feel that the page is a little too plain. I feel the same way about the simplicity of the “about me” page, and I would like to do something to make that a little more visually interesting. However, overall, I am very pleased with the outcome of the site.

Portfolio So Far
I uploaded my portfolio site to my FTP account on the Moravian server. Here it is for now. There are some pages that aren't coded yet, but I'm getting there!

Portfolio Site Update
My portfolio site is almost done! I'm so excited about it. I thought when I first started working on it that the coding was going to be impossible for me to figure out since its a totally different layout than anything I've tried before, but its actually going great!
